Ethiopia Launches ‘Visit Ethiopia’ Platform to Boost Global Tourism Reach
Ethiopia has taken a major step in modernising its tourism strategy with the launch of a new digital platform — Visit Ethiopia — designed to promote the country’s diverse tourism offerings to a global audience, as reported by the Ethiopian News Agency. The platform is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Tourism and the Information Network Security Administration (INSA), aimed at strengthening the country’s international tourism competitiveness.
Unveiled at an official launch event attended by Tourism Minister Salamawit Kassa and INSA Director General Tigist Hamid, along with other high-level government officials and stakeholders, Visit Ethiopia represents a major move toward digital transformation in the tourism sector.
More than just a website, Visit Ethiopia includes an interactive chatbot designed to help users explore destinations, connect with service providers, and access real-time support — making it a powerful tool for both tourists and operators.
Tourism Minister Salamawit Kassa highlighted the platform’s role in promoting Ethiopia’s wealth of cultural and natural attractions. “This platform will deliver timely, high-quality information and foster collaboration among stakeholders through a unified online space,” she said.
INSA’s Director General Tigist Hamid echoed the significance of the platform’s user-focused design, noting that it reflects the increasing digital presence of global travellers. She emphasised Ethiopia’s rich cultural diversity and tourism potential as key assets that Visit Ethiopia will help bring to the world’s attention.
As Ethiopia accelerates its efforts to attract international visitors, Visit Ethiopia is set to become a cornerstone of its tourism marketing efforts — combining cultural pride with technological innovation.
